A three mile long sandbar that juts out into the Mediterranean
is a magical riverboat ride away along the river. Try getting
an early river-boat, at 8.00 am. You might find that you have
the boat to yourself, (barter down the price) and with little
or no other traffic the mirrored reflection of the mountains
in the calm river water is sensational. You’ll also
arrive before the boatloads of visitors from other resorts,
and at a time of day when you can sunbathe without your factor
30 sun-block. |
This area was to be developed, until
it discovered that it was one of the last nesting grounds
for the endangered Loggerhead Turtle. Local fishermen will
take you on an early morning trip along the river, where
you can stop off and feed cabbage to the turtles by hand.
But you have to be up before sun-rise, so get an early night
in for a change! |
