Dalyan is in an environmentally protected area that
combines stunning natural beauty with historical interest. The Dalyan
River winds past ancient Rock Tombs and the ruins of the city of
Caunos to the sea. The 20 minute river-boat ride takes you to Iztuzu
beach which is ideal for swimming and sunbathing, just off where
the endangered Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta Caretta) lay their eggs.

Originally a small fishing village, Dalyan has been tastefully
developed to retain its charm and beauty. Numerous restaurants offer
a variety of excellent dishes at reasonable prices. Turkish cuisine
ranks third in the world (behind French and Chinese) so there are
plenty of new and exciting foods to try. |

There are many restaurants along the river front, in the town
centre, or around the square that contains the mosque, all within
calling distance of the call to prayer |
